Institutional
Report
I started
my Practicums (Kindergarten Level) at “Instituto de Nivel Inicial
HAKUNA MATATA”, in Rada Tilly, Chubut.
It is a 9 year-old institution and it has five rooms in the
morning shift, which include K2, K3, K4 and K5 and five rooms in the afternoon
shift which also include K2, K3, K4 and K5.
According to the information gathered in the interview
with the legal representative, the institution has always been opened to
parents and the community in general. As it is located in a relatively small
town, there is a close link between the parents and the institution.
The institution bases its practice on the
constructivist theory, considering that the child builds its own knowledge and
the teacher plays the role of a guide and facilitator. The teaching project of
this institution gives great relevance to the knowledge that each child brings
to school.
K5 “Pumas” is a group of 16 active and curious kids.
They are really nice and they enjoy games, videos and songs. The group is
heterogeneous. There are children who are involved with the work proposed by
the teacher and others who find it difficult to reach or follow the activities
proposed. They are very restless and they need activities that motivate them
and call their attention in order to get engaged. They incorporate the second
language naturally, although they are not at all exposed to it during the
class. The classroom is very large, with enough space to move, make a circle or
play games.
